Use the AI Assistant in the Web Editor
Learn how to open the AI Assistant from the left panel in the Web Editor, send prompts, use example suggestions, follow progress and tool activity, review results, apply updates, and check AI credits.
This guide explains how to use the AI Assistant inside the Admin Web Editor.
Use it when you want to:
- generate a new section or draft page content
- refine existing page wording or layout ideas
- follow AI progress while a request is running
- review AI credit availability before sending a request
- clear the panel and start a new request
Before You Start
Open the Web Editor first from System > Platform Customization.
Then open the main builder workspace for the page you want to edit.
Open The AI Assistant
Use the AI Assistant icon in the left tool rail to open the AI panel.
The panel is where OpenMirai keeps your current AI conversation for the page you are editing.
If the AI panel is already open, selecting the same icon again can close it.
This left-side tool is most useful when you want to:
- rewrite page text more quickly
- create a first draft for a section
- speed up repeated content changes without editing each block by hand
Depending on your setup, the panel can show:
- a chat header with AI Credits and Clear Chat
- your recent AI requests
- AI-generated responses
- example prompts to help you get started
- a prompt input box and Send Message
- progress and tool activity updates while AI is working
Use AI For Faster Iteration
The AI Assistant works best when you want to speed up repeated edits by describing the change in natural language.
This is especially useful for:
- first drafts
- repeated wording updates
- quicker iteration before manual fine-tuning
After AI applies a result, review the affected content carefully and refine it manually if needed.
Understand What The AI Chat Panel Shows
The main message area keeps the conversation for your current editing session in one place.
When you first open the panel, you may see a welcome state with suggested prompts instead of a conversation history.
As you keep working, the panel can show:
- your message history for the current session
- AI replies and generated suggestions
- progress updates while a request is still running
- background task activity for steps happening behind the scenes
This makes it easier to understand what the AI is doing before the final result is ready.
Start With Example Prompts Or Your Own Request
If you are not sure how to begin, review the example prompts shown in the AI panel.
Use them when you want a quick starting point for common tasks such as:
- drafting content for a section
- improving wording
- updating the layout direction for a page area
Selecting an example prompt fills the input with a suggested request so you can send it as is or edit it first.
If you already know what you want, type your own request into the AI input field.
For better results, be specific about:
- which section you want to change
- the type of content you want
- the tone or style you expect
- any layout direction that matters
After entering your request, use Send Message to submit it to the AI Assistant.
The Send Message button is only available when there is text in the input. It can also be temporarily unavailable while another AI request is already running.
Follow Progress While AI Works
After you send a request, the AI panel shows that the task is in progress.
While it runs, you may see:
- a progress message
- a progress indicator
- a current step description
- step-by-step activity updates inside the panel
OpenMirai can also show background task activity while the request is being prepared. This helps you understand that the page update is still running even before the final result appears.
If the request uses multiple background actions, the panel can list them separately so you can see whether each step is still running, already finished, or failed.
Review The Result Before Applying It
When the AI request finishes, review the generated result in the AI panel.
Use this step to check whether the response matches your page goal before changing the live editor content.
Pay close attention to:
- whether the wording matches your brand voice
- whether the content belongs in the selected page area
- whether the generated direction fits the page layout you want
In some cases, OpenMirai can also move the editor to the related block so you can review the affected area more quickly.
Apply The Generated Result To The Page
When the generated result looks right, use the panel action that applies the result to the page.
After you apply it:
- the page content in the builder updates
- you can continue editing manually in the canvas or settings panel
- the normal page save state still applies inside the builder
It is a good idea to review the page in the canvas after applying the AI result so you can make any final manual adjustments.
Check AI Credits And Availability
Use the AI Credits button in the chat header when you want to check available usage information.
Use it when you want to understand:
- how much AI usage is available
- whether AI is currently limited by your plan
- whether you may need to wait before sending another request
If AI is temporarily unavailable because of plan or credit limits, some AI actions may be restricted until usage becomes available again.
Understand The AI Credits Dialog
When you open AI Credits, OpenMirai can show a separate usage dialog.
Depending on your plan, this dialog can include:
- a usage summary
- a progress bar showing how much AI usage has already been used
- a breakdown of available AI credits
- an action area for plan or credit-related next steps
This dialog helps you decide whether to continue with another AI request now or take a plan-related action first.
What Actions You May See In The AI Credits Dialog
The action area changes based on your current plan and available credit options.
You may see:
- Upgrade plan if your current plan does not include the level of AI usage you need
- Convert if your account is eligible to turn available block quota into AI request credits
Some accounts can also show a warning state before conversion if certain conditions must be met first.
Because of this, the credits dialog may look different for:
- free-plan users
- paid-plan users
- accounts with add-ons or eligible conversion options
Clear The Conversation And Start Fresh
Use Clear Chat when you want to remove the current AI conversation and begin again with a new direction.
This is helpful when:
- the current conversation is no longer relevant
- you want to try a completely different prompt
- the panel has become too cluttered for the next task
Clearing the chat removes the conversation from the panel, but it does not undo page changes you already applied.
What To Expect If A Request Fails
If the AI request cannot finish, the panel can show an error state.
When this happens:
- review your request and try again
- shorten or clarify the prompt if needed
- confirm that AI is still available for your current plan and credit balance
If the request succeeds later, you can review the new result and apply it as usual.
What To Do Next
- use the AI Assistant for first drafts or quick refinements
- review generated results carefully before applying them
- use the canvas and right-side settings after applying the result
- clear the conversation when you want to start a new direction
If you need help with the overall builder layout first, use the main workspace guide for the Web Editor.
