Use Block Actions from the Outline Menu

Learn how to use the block actions menu in the Admin Web Editor to add, duplicate, rename, copy, paste, unlink, save, or remove blocks more quickly.

This guide explains how to use the block actions menu inside the Admin Web Editor.

Use it when you want to:

  • open quick actions for one block
  • duplicate or rename a section without leaving the structure tree
  • copy or move block content from one place to another
  • save a reusable block to your library
  • remove a block from the page

Before You Start

Open the Web Editor first from System > Platform Customization.

Then open the Outline panel from the left side of the builder.

Open The Block Actions Menu

In the Outline tree, open the ... menu for the block you want to manage.

OpenMirai then shows a list of actions for that specific block.

This menu is the fastest way to make block-level changes without moving away from the page structure view.

What You Can Do From The Menu

Depending on the selected block, the menu can include actions such as:

  • Add block
  • Duplicate
  • Rename
  • Cut
  • Copy
  • Paste
  • Unlink library block
  • Save to library
  • Remove

Not every block will always show every action in the same way.

Add A Block From The Menu

Use Add block when you want to insert a new block near the current one.

This is useful when you already know the exact section that should appear before, after, or inside the current structure area.

Duplicate A Block

Use Duplicate when you want to make a copy of the current block and reuse its existing content or layout.

This can save time when you are building repeated sections that only need small changes afterward.

Rename A Block

Use Rename when you want to give the current block a clearer internal name.

This can make the page structure much easier to understand later, especially on large pages with many similar sections.

Cut, Copy, And Paste Blocks

Use Cut, Copy, and Paste when you want to reorganize blocks more quickly.

These actions are helpful when you want to:

  • move a block to another place
  • copy a section before reusing it elsewhere
  • rebuild a page without starting a section from scratch

Use these actions carefully so you stay aware of where the selected block will end up.

If the current block is linked to a reusable library item, the menu can show Unlink library block.

Use this action when you want the current block to become independent from that reusable source.

This is useful when you want to customize the current block without keeping it tied to the shared library version.

Save A Block To Your Library

Use Save to library when you want to reuse the current block or block group on other pages later.

OpenMirai then opens a separate save window where you can name and categorize the reusable block.

Remove A Block

Use Remove when you want to delete the current block from the page.

Because this action affects the live page structure, use it carefully and confirm you selected the correct block first.

Why Some Actions May Be Unavailable

OpenMirai can disable some menu actions depending on the current block or current editing state.

For example, some actions may not be available if:

  • the current selection does not support that action
  • there is nothing appropriate to paste
  • the block is not linked to a library item

Disabled actions are shown so you can understand which options are possible in the current situation.

Best Practices

To work more safely with block actions:

  • check that the correct block is selected before opening the menu
  • rename important blocks clearly before copying or moving them
  • use duplicate when you want a fast starting point
  • use remove carefully on complex pages

These habits help prevent mistakes while editing larger page structures.

What To Do Next

  • use the Outline tree to select the correct block before opening ...
  • open Save to library if you want to reuse a block later
  • return to preview after major block changes if you want to review the result
