Rename a Custom Page and Update Its Path in the Web Editor

Learn how to rename a custom page in the Admin Web Editor, change its page path safely, and understand when the rename action stays unavailable.

This guide explains how to rename a custom page inside the Admin Web Editor.

Use it when you want to:

  • change the page name shown in the builder
  • update the page path for an existing custom page
  • avoid invalid or blocked replacement paths
  • understand why the rename action may stay unavailable

Before You Start

Open the Web Editor first from System > Platform Customization.

Then open the Pages panel from the left side of the builder.

Open The Rename Page Window

In the Pages panel, open the page's more-actions menu.

Then select Rename Page.

OpenMirai opens the Rename Page window for that page.

Understand The Rename Form

The rename window includes:

  • a message showing which page you are updating
  • a Page Name field
  • a Page Path field
  • path-format guidance
  • reserved-path guidance
  • Cancel
  • Rename Page

This form lets you update both the internal page name and the visitor-facing page path in one place.

Change The Page Name

Use Page Name when you want to improve the label shown in the builder.

This helps your team recognize the page more easily in the Pages panel.

Changing the page name does not by itself change the page address unless you also update the path.

Change The Page Path

Use Page Path when you want to change the page's web address.

OpenMirai expects a path style such as:

  • /about
  • /pricing
  • /campaign-2026

The path determines where visitors can open the page on your website.

Use A Valid Replacement Path

To rename the page successfully, the new path must follow the platform's path rules.

The path can use:

  • lowercase letters
  • numbers
  • hyphens (-)
  • underscores (_)
  • path separators (/) when needed

The path cannot use:

  • spaces
  • uppercase letters
  • unsupported special characters

If the new path format is invalid, OpenMirai shows an inline error under the field.

Avoid Reserved Or Duplicate Paths

Some paths are reserved by the platform and cannot be used for custom pages.

OpenMirai also prevents you from reusing a path that already belongs to another custom page.

If the replacement path is reserved or already used elsewhere, OpenMirai shows an inline error and keeps the rename action unavailable.

When The Rename Action Stays Unavailable

The Rename Page action can stay unavailable when:

  • the page name is empty
  • the page path is empty
  • the path is still being validated
  • the path is invalid
  • you have not changed either the name or the path yet

This helps prevent accidental or invalid updates.

Save The Rename

When the new values are valid and different from the current ones, the Rename Page action becomes available.

Select it to save the new page name and page path.

OpenMirai then updates the page in the Pages panel.

What To Expect While Renaming A Page

While using the rename form, you may notice:

  • inline validation feedback under the path field
  • the rename action staying disabled until the change is valid
  • a temporary loading state while the rename is being saved

This is normal while OpenMirai checks the new path and applies the update.

When To Use Cancel

Use Cancel when you want to close the window without saving the changes.

If you cancel, OpenMirai keeps the existing page name and path.

Best Practices Before Changing A Page Path

Before you change a live or important page path:

  • confirm that the new path is the one you want visitors to use
  • check that the path does not conflict with another important page
  • make the change carefully if the current page is already shared with users

This helps reduce confusion after the page address changes.

What To Do Next

  • review the updated page in the Pages panel
  • open preview if you want to verify the page after the rename
  • check live or draft status if the page is part of an active site update
