Use Right-Side Tools In The Web Editor

Learn how to use the right-side tools in the Web Editor, understand when to work in Block mode or Theme mode, and choose between Element ID and Actions, Block Settings, Styling, and Theme controls.

This guide explains the right-side tools inside the Admin Web Editor.

Use it when you want to:

  • understand the editing tools on the right side of the builder
  • decide whether to use Block Settings, Styling, or Theme
  • know when Element ID and Actions is useful
  • understand what happens when no block is selected

Before You Start

Open the Web Editor from System > Platform Customization.

Then open a page in the builder workspace.

Understand The Right-Side Tool Area

The right side of the builder is where OpenMirai shows detailed editing controls.

This area is used for two main kinds of work:

  • editing the block you currently selected
  • changing broader page-wide theme settings

In everyday use, this means the right side usually works in either:

  • Block mode
  • Theme mode

Use Block Mode

Block mode is the normal editing mode for the right-side panel.

Use it when you want to edit the specific section, card, text area, button, or other block that is currently selected in the canvas or outline.

Block mode can include:

  • Element ID and Actions
  • Block Settings
  • Styling

Use Theme Mode

Use Theme mode when you want broader visual changes that affect more of the page at once.

This is the right choice for:

  • brand-style updates
  • page-wide color changes
  • global visual direction changes

Theme mode is different from block editing because it is not limited to one selected block.

Open Theme mode from the top bar when you want to switch away from normal block editing.

In supported builder states, the right panel can also show a close control that returns you from Theme mode back to normal Block mode.

Use Element ID And Actions

Use Element ID and Actions when a selected block needs an identifiable element name or interactive behavior.

This tool is most useful when you want to:

  • give an important element a clear unique ID
  • prepare a block for event-based behavior
  • keep interactive page elements easier to manage later

If you use this tool, keep IDs clear and unique so future editing is easier.

Use Block Settings

Use Block Settings first when the content itself is wrong.

This is the best tool for:

  • text changes
  • labels
  • options
  • block-specific non-style settings
  • other content-related properties

If the wording, value, or block behavior needs to change, start here before adjusting appearance.

Use Styling

Use Styling when the content is correct but the visual presentation needs work.

This tool is useful for:

  • spacing
  • layout
  • typography
  • color
  • visual polish

To avoid confusion, change one style group at a time and then check the result in the canvas.

When To Use Theme Instead Of Styling

Use Styling when you are fixing one selected block.

Use Theme when you want to affect the wider page appearance across many sections.

As a simple rule:

  • one section or one block problem: use Styling
  • broader page look or brand direction: use Theme

What Happens When No Block Is Selected

Some right-side tools depend on having an active block selected first.

If nothing is selected, OpenMirai can show a message such as Select a block to edit instead of normal controls.

If that happens:

  • click the block directly in the canvas
  • or select it from Outline

Then the right-side panel updates to match that block.

What To Expect In Restricted Or Hidden States

Depending on the current builder state, the right-side panel can show different limited views.

Examples include:

  • a permission message when editing is not available
  • the right panel being temporarily hidden while a focused left-side AI workflow is active
  • the right panel being hidden during some focus states
  • the right panel being collapsed until workspace controls show it again

If the panel seems to be missing, check whether the workspace is in a focused mode or whether the sidebars are currently hidden.

What Happens When Only Part Of The Panel Is Available

In some situations, OpenMirai can show only part of the normal right-side editing tools.

For example:

  • if only content settings are available, the panel can show settings without the styling tools
  • if only style editing is available, the panel can show styling without the normal content settings

This helps you understand that the selected block or the current access level is limiting which tools can be used at that moment.

What Full Access Looks Like

When the selected block supports the full set of right-side controls and editing is allowed, the panel can show the complete editing view together.

This full view can include:

  • the reset menu
  • Element ID and Actions
  • Block Settings
  • Styling

In this state, the right panel can become scrollable so you can move through all available sections for the selected block.

When To Use Each Right-Side Tool

Use Element ID and Actions when:

  • the selected block needs a stable ID
  • interaction-related setup matters

Use Block Settings when:

  • the content is incorrect
  • a block option or field needs to be changed

Use Styling when:

  • the block looks wrong
  • spacing, layout, type, or colors need adjustment

Use Theme when:

  • you want global visual changes
  • brand or page-wide colors need updating

What To Do Next

  • select the correct block first from the canvas or outline
  • start with Block Settings if content needs to change
  • move to Styling after the content is correct
  • use Theme for broader visual updates
  • preview the page after larger right-side edits
