Manage Instructors In The Admin Platform

Learn how to use the Admin Platform instructor directory to search instructors, filter the list, invite instructors, use selected mode, and manage instructor status or categories.

This guide explains how to use the Instructors page in the Admin Platform.

Use it when you want to:

  • find an instructor quickly
  • filter the instructor list
  • invite a new instructor to your organization
  • deactivate or reactivate instructor access
  • remove an unused invitation
  • add categories to an instructor
  • open an instructor profile for more details

Open The Instructor List

To open the instructor directory:

  1. Go to Management > Members > Instructors.

This page gives admins a list view of instructors across the organization.

Understand The Instructor List Page

At the top of the page, OpenMirai shows:

  • the Instructors title
  • the number of matching results
  • a Selected mode toggle
  • an instructor type filter
  • a search box
  • an Invite button
  • a filter panel for categories

Below that, OpenMirai shows an instructor table.

Use this page when you want to review instructors at a glance before opening a profile or taking action.

Search Instructors

Use the search box to find an instructor by name or email.

This is useful when:

  • you already know which instructor you want to manage
  • the list is long
  • you want to open one instructor quickly

Filter By Instructor Type

Use the instructor type filter to narrow the list.

The current options are:

  • All Instructors
  • Active Instructors
  • Inactive Instructors

Use this when you only want to review instructors in one status group.

Filter By Category

Open the filter panel when you want to narrow the list by category.

This is helpful when your organization uses categories to group instructors by subject, business unit, team, or other internal structure.

Understand Instructor Rows

Each instructor row can show details such as:

  • instructor name or invited email address
  • status badge
  • assigned categories
  • number of courses
  • number of learners
  • an action menu

Some rows can look different based on instructor status:

  • Pending invitation rows show an invitation badge and stay muted.
  • Deactivated rows show a deactivated badge and stay muted.
  • Some rows can show a message that the instructor is still waiting to create their profile.

Open An Instructor Profile

Select an instructor row to open that instructor’s profile.

Use the profile page when you need more detail, such as the instructor’s courses or settings.

Invitation-only rows do not open a profile yet. Those rows stay in the list until the invitation has progressed far enough to create a real instructor profile.

Use The Row Action Menu

Each instructor row includes an action menu.

Depending on the instructor’s current status, available actions can include:

  • Add Categories
  • Deactivate
  • Activate
  • Remove Invitation

Use these actions when you want to manage one instructor at a time.

Add Categories To An Instructor

Use Add Categories when you want to organize an instructor into one or more groups.

When you select this action, OpenMirai opens a category selection dialog. After you apply the change, the instructor’s categories update in the list and in the instructor profile.

Deactivate An Instructor

Use Deactivate when you need to temporarily stop an instructor from accessing their courses.

OpenMirai asks for confirmation before applying the change.

After the instructor is deactivated:

  • the row shows a deactivated state
  • the instructor cannot access their courses until reactivated

Reactivate An Instructor

If an instructor is already deactivated, the action menu shows Activate.

Use this when you want to restore the instructor’s access.

Remove A Pending Invitation

Use Remove Invitation when an invited instructor should no longer be able to join with the current invitation.

OpenMirai asks for confirmation before removing it. If you want that person to join later, you will need to send a new invitation.

Turn On Selected Mode

Use the Selected toggle when you want to work with several instructors at once.

In selected mode, you can:

  • select instructors with checkboxes
  • open the bulk action menu
  • apply one action to multiple instructors

This is useful when you need to update a group instead of handling instructors one by one.

Use Bulk Instructor Actions

When you select instructors, OpenMirai can show bulk actions such as:

  • Deactivate
  • Activate
  • Remove Invitation

The available bulk actions depend on the statuses of the instructors you selected.

For example:

  • Deactivate appears when selected instructors can still be deactivated
  • Activate appears when selected instructors are already deactivated
  • Remove Invitation appears when selected rows are pending invitations

Invite A New Instructor

Use the Invite button when you want to add a new instructor to your organization.

The invite dialog includes:

  • an email field
  • an optional category selection field
  • Clear
  • Cancel
  • Invite

Complete The Invite Form

To send an instructor invitation:

  1. Select Invite.
  2. Enter the instructor’s email address.
  3. Optionally assign one or more categories.
  4. Select Invite to send the invitation.

Use categories here if you want the instructor to appear in the right group as soon as they are added.

Use Clear And Cancel In The Invite Dialog

Use Clear when you want to keep the dialog open but remove what you typed and start again.

Use Cancel when you want to close the dialog without sending the invitation.

Understand Invitation And Setup States

After an invitation is sent, the instructor can appear in different early states.

For example:

  • Pending invitation means the invitation is still waiting for the person to respond.
  • Waiting for instructor to create their profile means the person has not finished setup yet.

These rows stay visible so admins can track progress and manage invitations if needed.

If No Instructors Are Found

If the page shows no instructors, one of these is usually true:

  • no instructors have been added yet
  • your search does not match any instructors
  • the current filter is too narrow

Try clearing or changing your search and filters to broaden the results.
