Create a Resource in the Admin Platform
Learn how to create a resource in the Admin Platform, including file upload, download settings, categories, and instructor access permissions.
This guide explains how to create a new resource in the Admin Platform.
Use it when you want to:
- upload a new file to the resource library
- name and organize a resource
- choose whether the file can be downloaded
- decide who can access the resource
- share the resource with all instructors, selected instructors, or admins only
Open The Resource Creation Page
To create a new resource:
- Go to Management > Resources.
- Select Create.
OpenMirai then opens the resource creation page.
Understand The Create Page
The resource creation page includes:
- a back button
- a section list for easier navigation
- a save bar
- an About section
- an Access section
Use this page when you want to add the file itself and define who can use it in one flow.
Use The Save Bar
The save bar appears while you are filling in the page.
Use it to create the resource after you finish reviewing the details.
After saving successfully, OpenMirai returns you to the main resource list.
Add The Resource Name
In the About section, enter a clear name in the Resource name field.
Use a name that helps admins and instructors recognize the file quickly later.
Upload The File
Use the File field to upload the resource file.
This is the main file that will be stored in the resource library.
Use this step to add items such as:
- documents
- PDFs
- slides
- images
- videos
- other supported files
Understand The Downloadable Setting
The Downloadable switch controls whether users can download the resource file.
Turn it on when you want people with access to be able to download the file.
Turn it off when the resource should only be viewed inside the platform.
Important detail:
- if the uploaded file is a video, OpenMirai disables the Downloadable switch automatically
Add Categories
Use the Categories field when you want to organize the resource inside the library.
This is helpful when:
- your resource library is growing
- you want to group files by topic or department
- you want to make filtering easier later
Use The Access Section
The Access section controls who can use the resource.
You can choose one of these access types:
- Public
- Selected
- Private
Use this setting carefully because it changes who can work with the resource after it is created.
Choose Public Access
Use Public when all instructors should be able to access the resource.
Choose this for materials that should be broadly available across your organization.
Choose Private Access
Use Private when instructors should not be able to access the resource.
Choose this when the resource should remain available only to admins.
Choose Selected Access
Use Selected when only certain instructors should be able to access the resource.
When you choose this option, OpenMirai shows additional tools for choosing instructors.
Add Instructors For Selected Access
When Selected access is active, use Add instructor to open the instructor selection dialog.
Inside the dialog, OpenMirai lets you:
- search for instructors
- review the instructor list
- select one or more instructors
- add the selected instructors to the resource
Use this when the resource should only be shared with a specific group.
Review Selected Instructors
After adding instructors, OpenMirai shows them in a list on the creation page.
Use this list to confirm that the right people have been selected before you create the resource.
Remove An Instructor Before Saving
Each selected instructor includes a Remove action.
Use it when you want to take someone out of the selected-access list before creating the resource.
This is useful when:
- the wrong person was added
- the resource should go to a smaller group
- you want to review access one more time before saving
Use The Section Navigation
The section list helps you move between:
- About
- Access
Use it when you want to jump directly to the part of the page you still need to complete.
If A Field Needs Attention
If required information is missing or invalid, OpenMirai shows validation feedback in the affected field.
Common examples include:
- missing resource name
- missing file upload
- selected access without the instructors you need
Review the highlighted field, correct it, and save again.
If You Leave Before Saving
If you try to leave the page before finishing, OpenMirai can warn you about unsaved changes.
Use this warning as a reminder to save the resource first if you want to keep your work.
